Scripture
14 So Moses went down from the mountain to the people and consecrated the people, and they washed their garments. 15 He said to the people, “Be ready for the third day; do not go near a woman.” Exodus 19:14-15 

Observation
Clean. Scrubbed. And 3 days without sex. 600,000 men waited for God to show up. And did God ever show up!  The mountain burned. His voice thundered. But even with all of their stringent preparations it still wasn’t enough to get them to the top to sit with Moses and God. 

Stories like this bring so much meaning to this verse:

12 He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by his own blood, having obtained eternal redemption. Hebrews 9:12

16 Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. Hebrews 14:16

Application
This day may I honor Jesus by using courageously what he did selflessly and enter into Abba’s presence.  

Prayer
Father, it is not by my self-discipline but by your Son’s sacrifice that I have won an appointment with you. I take it all. Amen.
