What Does God Think?

No Comments 21 March 2010

Scripture
The men of Israel sampled their provisions but did not inquire of the LORD. Then Joshua made a treaty of peace with them to let them live, and the leaders of the assembly ratified it by oath. Joshua 9:14-15

Observation
Joshua made a good business decision but made a bad choice with long shadows into the future.

From a leadership point of view, Joshua seemed to do many things right. It seems that he had begun to delegate, for others met with the strangers and tasted their goods. The elders seemed to bring the treaty to him all ready to sign.

Joshua got an A+ for delegation and leadership but he failed at spiritual leadership because he didn’t ask God’s direction.

Application
“What does God think?” That simple question could same me so much wasted and hurtful time? Because Joshua began distracted, he asked others what they thought rather than asking God what he wanted. What does God think? That is to be my first order of business each day. There are some things a leader can never delegate. Alliances is one of them. Who we connect to and with is of great importance to God.

Prayer
Father, today what do you think of the alliances in my relationships? Made good decisions through me. Amen.

I'm Phil McCallum, a husband, father and most of all one of the people Jesus loves. I'm privileged to serve Evergreen Community Church in Bothell, Washington as Senior Pastor where people love enough to believe "it's all about relationships." In 1982 I made a vow to read God's word daily and apply it to life. Each day I write out my reflections. Some days I post those on my blog. It's a little personal but it's my hope it will stir you to go deeper still. Learn how I do my devotions. These are my thoughts and not necessarily those of the ministry I serve. By the way check out the computer study Bible Glo. I highly recommend it.
